Each fix guide on this site follows the same rules. They exist so you can trust a step before you pick up a tool.
One symptom per guide
A guide answers one problem, written the way people describe it: “furnace clicks but won’t light”, not “furnace issues”. If your problem has a different symptom, it gets its own guide with its own checks.
The maker’s documentation comes first
Steps, part names and any numbers, such as voltages or pressures, come from the manufacturer’s service manual, owner’s manual or installation guide. Each guide lists the documents it used under “Sources” at the end. When manuals disagree between model years, we say which units a step applies to.
Cheapest check first
We order the checks by cost and effort. Battery voltage, breakers, fuses and valves come before control boards and new parts. Many RV appliances need 12 volts to run their control board even when they burn propane, so a weak house battery shows up in a lot of guides.
Clear stop points
Some work is not a DIY job. Each guide says where to stop and call a tech, for example:
- You smell propane or find a gas leak
- A fridge cooling unit leaks ammonia or shows yellow residue
- An air conditioner needs refrigerant work, which in the US needs an EPA-certified tech
- A repair means opening a gas valve, a generator engine or a sealed part
Fix details at the top
Every guide starts with a short answer and a fix card that shows how hard the job is, how long it takes, which tools you need and a rough parts cost. If you only have a minute, the top of the page tells you where to look.
How we use AI tools
We use AI tools to help research, draft and format guides. They do not decide what a step says. Every step is checked against the maker’s documentation listed in the sources before the guide goes live, and a guide without sources is not published.
Updates and corrections
When a reader reports a mistake or a maker changes a part, we fix the guide and change its “Updated” date. You can report a problem through the contact page. Please include your RV make, model year and the part involved.
